How to Prepare for Your First House Cleaning Appointment

How to Prepare for Your First House Cleaning Appointment

Short answer: Before your first professional cleaning, pick up clutter from floors and counters, plan how the team will get in, secure pets and valuables, and tell the cleaners your top priorities. You do not need to clean before the cleaners arrive, and you do not need to supply products or equipment.

1. Clear the Clutter, Not the Dirt

Cleaners clean surfaces. They cannot clean under piles of mail, toys, or laundry. Spend 15 minutes picking up items from floors, counters, and tables. You do not need to wipe or scrub anything first.

2. Plan Access

Decide how the team will get in. Many customers leave a key or share a door or garage code. If you live in a condo, check whether the building requires visitors to check in, and let us know about parking and elevator rules.

3. Secure Pets

We love pets, but for everyone's comfort, keep them supervised if you are home or in a separate room or crate if you are not.

4. Put Away Valuables and Fragile Items

Put away cash, jewelry, medication, and anything delicate or sentimental. It protects your items and lets the team work faster.

5. Tell Us Your Priorities

Every home has problem areas: a shower with stubborn grout, a stovetop that needs extra time, or a guest room that matters this week. Add notes when you book or tell the team on arrival so the time goes where you want it.

6. Know What Is Included

Read the checklist for your service so there are no surprises. A standard clean maintains your home. A deep clean adds baseboards, fans, grout, and buildup. Inside-the-oven and inside-the-refrigerator cleaning are part of move-in and move-out cleaning.

7. Do a Quick Walkthrough

When the clean is done, walk through the home. If anything was missed, tell us within 24 hours and we will come back to make it right.

FAQs

Do I need to be home?

No. Many customers are at work during their cleaning. Some like to be home for the first visit to point out priorities.

Do I need to provide supplies?

No. We bring our own products and equipment. If you prefer a specific product, leave it out and let us know.

What if I need to cancel?

Cancellations are free. The only exception is a cancellation made within 2 hours of your scheduled arrival time, which carries a $50 fee. Please give at least 24 hours' notice when you can.
